    they all sang lead at different times on different songs. they all sang the harmonies also. they each had hit songs, not just one of them.

    Not quite true, Vic. Dan Peek sings lead on ‘Lonely People’ and “Don’t Cross The River’. Both videos can be found here on YouTube. But regardless of who is singing lead, all three guys sound great!

    America’s lead guitarist, Dewey Bunnell is the writer and lead singer in this live version of their 1972 #8 hit, “Ventura Highway”. Bunnell also sings lead in their 1972 #1 song “A Horse With No Name” and their 1974 #4 hit, “Tin Man” Only Bunnell and Gerry Beckley sing lead, Dan Peek sings harmony on America’s songs.

    I am a HUGE America fan, I’ve been to more of their concerts than I can count, and I can state with absolute certainty that the lead singer in this video is Dewey Bunnell. But kudos to everyone posting here for having great taste in music and for listening to one of the best bands of all-time.

    No one wrote songs like these guys did. I first heard them in the 80’s with You Can Do Magic. My friend’s dad showed me they had music b/4 that…like Hall And Oates & Heart good in the 80’s greater in the 70’s.
