What type of taxes are owed to neighboring states if I have an online store in NH?
I am starting an online store based in NH which collects no sales taxes. Do I have to charge a sales tax on orders shipped to neighboring states like MA which has a 5% sales tax? If yes, does that 5% get paid to MA? Can someone tell me where I might find simple, explicit info/examples on this? Thanks
No, unless you have a physical presence in the neighboring states also, you only collect sales tax in your home state, and if NH doesn’t have a sales tax, you don’t have to worry about it.

You don’t have to collect sales tax for any state until your sales get big enough. ""Big enough" is defined by your state so I would suggest you try your state’s dept of revenue’s web site. Since you already know you don’t have to collect for in-state sales, you probably already know this.
As far as collecting for other states, you don’t until you apply to do business in that state and you don’t have to do that until you become big enough for that state to care about. Most small businesses don’t come close, so you don’t have to. Instead, most states make the BUYER pay a tax called a "Use Tax". This tax is paid by the honor system as part of their individual state tax return. If you want to see reference to that, check your own personal state tax return instruction book.
