How can hotels and satellite services offer movies to purchase that are still in theaters?

I understand that they need copyrights to the movies they are selling, but is there some kind of services(like DirecTV’s pay per view) that already has copyrights to different movies that they purchase for or from? Hotels offer in room movie purchases that are still in theaters. How can they do that or what services are they with??

There are several companies that provide this service for hotels. Generally, it looks like the video service company provides both the the hardware to run the service (a central server in the hotel and in room devices) and the content for the service (through licenses with movie studios and such).
