Hotel Rwanda – Million Voices

This film is based on true events that took place during the genocidal violence that erupted in Rwanda between the Hutu and Tutsi groups in 1994, when the Hutu military and Interahamwe militias killed roughly 800,000 Tutsis over approximately 100 days. In the face of these unspeakable actions, inspired by his love for his family, an ordinary man summons extraordinary courage to save the lives of over a thousand helpless refugees, by granting them shelter in the hotel he manages.

Just returned from this beautiful country of one thousand hills on a peace and conflict studies program. Words can’t describe my love for that place and the people there. If you have the time and means, I strongly encourage you to visit Rwanda. It’ll be a precious opportunity to discover that Rwanda is not all about the shadowy memories of the genocide!

    No, your not being …
No, your not being very clever at all lol… I didn’t say the film should include all of Rwanda’s history…. I just think there was an opportunity here to tell you more about the country, than presenting it as a generic hollywood piece of rubbish… instead of promoting interest in rwanda’s history, all it does is make the ignorant viewer want to go and visit the Milles Collines

  22. s1monz Says:

    Yes Paul …
Yes Paul Rusesabagina may be depicted as an African Schindler, yet the heroism of the few remaining Tunisian peacekeepers, and the fact that the Milles Collines was one of the few places noticed by western eyes, means that Rusesabagina’s depiction is false. Do not denigrate these words, for they are of Paul Kagame himself. Hotel Rwanda tells little about the real history of the country.

    Nobody would want …
Nobody would want to have something in return for preventing a genocide.
The reason why they didn’t intervene when the real massacre began is because even more UN soldiers would have died then. Soldiers with families of their own …
